Our assistant shop manager and resident early furniture expert, Andrew Young built this chest from scratch using authentic tools and techniques to the late 1600s. Its made from a 400 year old oak tree that fell down in 2008. The chest features hand forged nails and an original lock dated to 1690.

We are fortunate to have Mr Young on board, with his expertise and insight into early pieces.

THIS. IS. COOL. We are proud to present an original carpenters chest dated between 1750-1850. It features actual pegged joint construction (mortise and tenon to be precise). Inside several pull-out shelves are revealed, as well as holes and slots for early tools. This chest comes with several HAND FORGED auger or drill bits of the era.

To think....this chest contained tools used to build houses and buildings, some of which still stand.

JUST IN--- we have acquired an amazing crossbow. Its one of the finest reproductions of a 16th century crossbow, capable of felling a deer. Made by Mikel Dablek of Poland about 30 years ago, this crossbow hearkens to days of yore when knights clashed and simple ingenuity often ruled the day. Come on in and take a look. *Make sure to click on the pictures to see all of the images*.

The maker is now long retired and his work resides in museums all across Europe and the US. This is a fine investment quality piece and yet still functional-- we shot it recently! At about 60-65 yards, it embedded nearly 2 inches into an oak tree.

We are asking a reasonable 890 for this authentic one-of-a-kind heirloom quality piece. Comfortable payments happily accepted.

Behold the amazing deep etching on the bow! This thing is spectacular! You will not find anything like this on the market...not with the quality, authenticity, etching and actual functionality...this is the real deal !

Have a cherished antique or piece of furniture to repair or refinish? Grandmas cabinet with some nasty scratches? ye olde chest need some feet? Roughed up table top?

Send us an email with pictures of the damage. We can fix a lot of things, and if not, we can recommend helpful sources.

Here are some pictures of a latter 19th century piece. Circa 1880. In the second photo, note the 'blown out' lip that desperately needs repair and ultimately some replacement. The last picture is testament to this cabinets life and the general brute longevity of high quality antiques (which we also sell) vs modern cheap imported furniture at most modern furniture stores. See the nails in the last picture? The darker squarish nail is original and is being compared to the shiny round nail. Believe or not that those old square nail holds many times better than modern machine made nails.

We have a resident blacksmith and furniture maker/repair expert on premises, Andrew Young. He is also highly familiar with early period pieces.

In addition to repairing this piece, he will be forging several nails over the forge and anvil to achieve strong period attachment in the broken joints. The newly forged nails will look virtually identical to the originals. And work just as well...because they are made just like the originals !

Many of us remember simple childhood memories...most of us did not realize we were holding "American history" investments.

This neat little adorable book was produced by Woolworth store for the children's toy department.

Very rare, very cute.
